About the Project

The Jewish Federation and JCC of Greater New Haven have sought creative ways to save on utility costs and reduce our carbon footprint. These efforts include negotiating favorable utility rates, installing energy efficient lighting systems, and the installation of a co-generation unit. For the past 2 years, we have explored the use of solar generation to help supplement our other measures and reduce the amount of energy that we are buying from traditional sources.

If electricity purchase rates continue to rise, the carports and solar panels will significantly reduce our costs over their lifetime. The project also may include the installation of public charging stations for electric vehicles.
